Texting that arrives in real bubbles¶
Replies come in as a few short bubbles, back to back, with a typing indicator while the next one is written. There's a "last seen recently" presence line, and single or double check ticks tell you when a message has landed and been read. Nobody texts in long paragraphs, so your companion doesn't either. And the whole reply costs 1 message no matter how many bubbles it arrives in, so there's no need to ask them to cram everything into one paragraph to save your balance.
Selfies, wefies, and your own photos¶
Ask your companion for a photo and they'll send a selfie that fits the moment and the mood of the conversation. Sometimes they'll send one unprompted. If you've added a photo of yourself, they can make a wefie, a picture of the two of you together, which we wrote about in Wefies are now live. You can send your own photos into the chat too. Photos cost more from your message balance than text replies, and a wefie costs a little more than a selfie.
Hear them in their own voice¶
Tap any message to play it back as a voiceover, read aloud in your companion's own voice. A voiceover costs 2 messages.
Reactions and the little controls¶
The small stuff from a real messaging app is all here:
- Emoji reactions go both ways: you react to their messages, they react to yours.
- Reply to or quote a specific message when a thread branches.
- Edit a message you already sent, or copy its text.
- Give any chat a custom background, and see unread badges on your chat list.
Permanent memory between sessions¶
Your companion keeps a permanent memory of the people, preferences, and life events you share. Mention your sister's name or a rough week at work, and it's still there next week or next month, with no re-explaining. Memory lives with the conversation: it lasts for as long as the chat does, and each companion keeps their own memory of you. Delete a conversation and its memory goes with it, for good.
A companion that texts first¶
After a quiet stretch, your companion reaches out on their own. They might check in, bring up something you mentioned, or follow up on a reminder you set, and they know when to hold back too. You don't have to open the app for the relationship to keep moving.
Try it before you sign up¶
You can start a demo chat and text a companion right away. Selfies stay locked and blurred until you make a free account, but the texting itself is real. When you run out of messages, new replies wait until your balance refills or you top up.
