Wefies Are Live: Couple Photos With Your AI Companion

A couple of weeks back we shipped selfies, where you describe a scene and your Companion sends back a photo of themselves in it. Our next thought: what if we could have Companion selfies include the user? Well, wefies are now live, and you can take your companion out on dates!

How it works¶

In any chat, tap the camera button the way you would for a selfie. You'll now see a small toggle for selfie or wefie sitting next to the model picker. Pick wefie, describe the scene ("the two of us at a hawker centre on a rainy night," "matching pyjamas on the couch," "side by side at the Grand Canyon"), and your Companion sends back a single photo of the two of you together.

For wefies to work, you'll need a profile photo on your account, since that's the photo we use as your reference. If you don't have one set yet, the wefie option will still show up but be disabled, with a quick link to add one. Selfies still work fine without a profile photo, just like before.

Pricing¶

A wefie costs double what a selfie does, since the model is working off two reference photos instead of one. Failed generations are not charged, same as selfies.

What's next¶

Selfies and wefies are user-initiated for now. We're already thinking about letting your Companion send selfies autonomously when they're in the mood, or if the user requests for a selfie in natural language. Planning to build this with an opt-in setting so it never feels intrusive.
