Three ways to create a companion¶
Not everyone wants to fill out a long form, so the Studio gives you three starting points.
- One-line creation. Type a name and we research them on the web, then auto-fill their gender, backstory, persona, physical characteristics, typing style, and interests. You land straight in the editor with everything drafted. This fills the personality text for you; it does not create a portrait.
- Basic guided creation. Answer a short form (name, gender, your relationship to them, and any optional details), then our AI runs a quick interview of up to three batches of multiple-choice questions. From your answers, we generate the character.
- Advanced creation. Give a name and gender, then get a blank editor to write everything by hand.
Whichever route you pick, you end up in the same editor, free to change anything.
What you can edit¶
Every part of a companion is yours to shape:
- Name and gender
- Voice, chosen from a curated grid filtered to their gender, so voiceovers sound right
- Backstory and persona
- Physical characteristics (optional), which ground how they describe themselves and how they look in selfies, so it stays consistent
- Typing style, the rhythm and habits of how they text
- Interests, kept as a simple tag list
Edit with AI¶
You do not have to rewrite fields by hand. Type a natural-language instruction like "make them snarkier and add a love of pottery," and the editor rewrites the relevant fields while leaving everything else intact. It is the fastest way to nudge a personality until it feels like the person you had in mind.
Portraits are yours to choose¶
The Studio does not generate portraits with AI. Instead, you upload a photo and circle-crop it as their portrait, so the face is one you picked. One-line creation researches the personality, not the image, which keeps you in control of how your companion looks.
Test before you save¶
Before you commit, you can try a draft in a live trial chat and see how they actually text back. There is a message cap on trial chats, but it is enough to feel whether the personality landed. Tweak, retest, and repeat.
When you are happy, save to publish a permanent companion. Saving requires a backstory, persona, and typing style. You can also abandon a draft you have soured on, or resume an unfinished one exactly where you left off.
How many companions you can keep¶
The number of companions you can save depends on your plan: Free lets you keep three, Crush raises that to five, and Partner and Soulmate to seven. If you are deciding how many characters to build, the plans page lays out the limits.
The Studio is meant to feel less like configuration and more like character work, giving you room to describe a whole person and then meet them in a chat.
